Welcome to Fight the Flab with YOU

Fight the Flab is a scientifically designed, tried-and-tested weight loss plan that will have you looking your best ever – in just 12 weeks.

It works like this: you get a daily format with workout videos, meal plans and recipes for that day or, if you like to plan ahead, you can choose a weekly format instead. When you’re done with that day, you simply mark it ‘complete’ and move on to the next.

Track your progress on the My Plan page and update your stats so you stay motivated. You can also download the workouts you enjoy the most as well as your meal plans and shopping lists.

The workouts use minimal equipment, so you can train at home. You can also customise the meals to suit your budget.

Meet Your Coaches

This pair of professionals will help get you into the best shape of your life.

Your Trainer, Aneeka Buys

Aneeka is a master trainer and mentor at Virgin Active and a 2016 Women’s Health Next Fitness Star finalist. She holds an international diploma as a personal trainer specialist from the International Institute for Sports Science and Fitness Training and an international certificate in strength and conditioning.

Anneka is based at Virgin Active Silo District in Cape Town, and her clients include celebrities, top international athletes and business leaders.

Her approach to fitness is to keep movements natural, high energy and fun. “Because of our sedentary lifestyle – being stuck at a desk or behind the wheel of a car for hours on end – we’ve forgotten how to move in any direction besides forwards. This is why I love functional training. It prepares you not only for your day-to-day life, but also for unforeseen fight-or-flight situations. “I love incorporating crazy, compound moves, lots of plyometrics (explosive stuff like hopping and jumping) and a bit of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), giving you better activations – and a thumping heart – and resulting in, most importantly, a strong, mobile and capable body.”

Your Dietician, Carey Anne Seady

Carey has a master’s degree in nutrition and dietetics from Stellenbosch University and a BSc Med Honours in dietetics from the University of Cape Town.

She’s worked as a private-practice dietician for 13 years, with clients including top athletes and celebs.

Carey is currently based at The Cape Institute of Endocrinology at Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital in Cape Town, where she is the resident private-practice dietician.

She’s also completing her PhD at the Division of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine at UCT.

“I believe in balanced eating based on scientific principles and the overall lifestyle of the individual. I advocate a Mediterranean-style diet.”
